Fiona Kenshole

Vice President / Development & Acquisitions - Laika Entertainment

Fiona Kenshole was formerly the Publishing Director of Oxford University Press Children's Books. Fiona is a major force in international publishing and has held key positions at some of the biggest publishing houses in Europe. She successfully launched such international bestsellers as Lucy Daniels' Animal Ark. In the last decade, Fiona's books have won or been nominated for every major British literary award and she has lectured widely on children's books, including at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and is herself a published author. Fiona has been gearing up LAIKA's property acquisition, and has recently acquired Laura Ruby's stunning comic fantasy The Wall and the Wing, published by HarperCollins in 2006, for the studio. In a hard-fought auction, she has also acquired the British cult best-seller Here Be Monsters, published by Simon and Schuster in 2006.

Sue Vertue

Producer, Hartswood Films

Sue Vertue started her working life as a Production Manager in the commercials world before joining Tiger Television in 1989. She began producing in 1991 and her credits whilst there include: Mr Bean, The Vicar of Dibley, Gimme Gimme Gimme. Sue left Tiger Aspect at the end of 1998 to produce Comic Relief 1999. In April 1999 Sue joined her mother Beryl Vertue's company Hartswood Films. Since joining Hartswood Sue has produced Coupling, Fear, Stress & Anger, Carrie & Barry, The Savages, The Cup and will produce the upcoming Sherlock for BBC1.

 

Susan Breen

Head of Development

Sue began script editing at Family Affairs, Talkback Thames' daily soap for Five. She went on to script edit several long-running dramas before returning to Talkback to produce both Family Affairs and then The Bill. Following producing roles on Totally Frank for Channel 4 and Bel's Boys for CITV, Sue made her first move into film, as Development Producer at Aardman Animations. She is now Head of Feature Film Development at Aardman. 

 

Gub Neal

Artists Studio - Creative Director

Gub is an award-winning producer, formerly Head of Drama at Channel 4 and before that Controller of Drama at Granada. There he co-created Cracker and won an Emmy for Prime Suspect. Highlights at Channel 4 include Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Rockstar, Queer As Folk, and the prestigious millennium show Longitude. Prior to co-founding Artists Studio, he founded and ran Box TV where his productions included The Last Enemy, Wind in the Willows (both BBC/ WGBH) and the Prix Italia winning Sunday. 

 

Elizabeth Morgan Hemlock

Producer (Mugabe & The White African)

Elizabeth was instrumental in establishing the Screenwriters' Festival, and continues to work alongside David Pearson as co-producer for Arturi Films (Mugabe and the White African). Elizabeth's career began at Working Title Films before then leading to  a ten-year stint as a leading talent agent in London representing actors, directors; Film Finance Executive at film financing and international sales company, MHFTV where they also had Executive Producer roles on the independent Hollywood movies with budgets of US$8-20M, they were involved with. She has been a script development executive and development producer on various feature films through her company, Wild Films. As Producer: Journey Man (Best Film Interfilm, Berlin; Best Int. Short film Amiens Int. Festival; NY Expo Barbizon Lighting Award; Runner up TCM Classic Shorts Award 2002; shortlisted Best Film by BAFTA LA for Taos Int. Film Festival). Assoiate. Producer ‘The Mentors' Si-Fi Series for Flextech. Elizabeth and David run Arturi Films and launched the International Screenwriters' Festival in June 2006, now in its fourth year with Oscar and BAFTA winning talents in the line-up.

Kenton is a multi-award winning programme maker with Producer credits including the multi BAFTA winning sitcom The Royle Family and the Oscar award winning short film Six Shooter.

He was Creative Head of BBC Comedy and BBC Comedy North between 2003 and 2008 where he Executive Produced a diverse range of comedy programming including the BAFTA award winning sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Look (BBC2), the BAFTA nominated drama series Funland (BBC3) along with numerous other projects including The Omid Djalili Show (BBC1) After You've Gone (BBC1), Freezing (BBC2), The Visit (BBC1 and BBC3), Massive (BBC3) and four series of Ideal (BBC2 and BBC3).

 

Luke Alkin

Executive Producer, Drama

Luke Alkin joined Big Talk from Channel 4 where he was Acting Head of Drama. During his time there, Paula Milne's Endgame, Peter Flannery's The Devil's Whore and Tony Grisoni's adaptation of The Red Riding books were all greenlit. He also oversaw production of The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall directed by Rowan Joffe, Fallout adapted by Roy Williams from his acclaimed play and Ben Ross' Poppy Shakespeare. Prior to this, Luke worked at BBC Films as a development executive. During this time, his credits included The Gathering Storm, Out Of Control, Tomorrow La Scala! and Bulletboy. Luke also developed the up-coming Men Who Stare At Goats.

 

Tamzin Cary

Development Executive
Tamzin Cary began her film career as assistant to Vadim Jean and Bharat Nalluri at The Mob Film Company before moving on to assist Ruth Caleb at BBC Films. During her time with Ruth, she worked as Production Secretary on four BAFTA winning features and singles including the Michael Powell winning film Last Resort as well as managing a slate of 17 projects. Tamzin then moved over to be BBC Films in-house script reader, before leaving to take up the post of Head of Development at indie production company, The Producers Films. She continued to work in a freelance capacity for BBC Films, Fox Phillips and Mission Pictures. Following a short stint working with Film4, Tamzin took over as Development Executive at Big Talk Productions

Christopher Aird

Carnival Films

Christopher Aird's credits as Executive Producer at Carnival are Hotel Babylon series 3 & 4 for BBC1 and Harley Street for ITV1. He also has various projects in development. His credits as Producer include Hotel Babylon series 1 & 2, Spooks and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries for the BBC.

Previously he worked as a Development Executive in BBC Drama Commissioning on shows including Spooks, Bodies, Red Cap, Trust, Burn It and The Hound of the Baskervilles. He was a script editor in the BBC Drama series and BBC Radio Drama departments for four years and has a degree in Drama from Bristol University.

 

George Faber

Managing Director

George Faber joined the BBC as a production trainee in 1984 and worked as a script editor, producer and executive producer in the Drama Department before becoming Head of Single Drama from 1993 to 1997. Over a four year period in the early 1990s Faber was Executive Producer of Screenplay, an annual season of 12 original films for the BBC. During his tenure, the Screenplay productions garnered more than 25 awards at UK and international TV and film festivals. They also helped launch the careers of many of Britain's leading writers and directors, including Danny Boyle, Beeban Kidron, Gillies MacKinnon, Michael Winterbottom and Lucy Gannon. In 1998 he set up Company Pictures with Charles Pattinson where he has been executive producer on all TV output and producer on the feature films Titanic Town, A Room for Romeo Brass and Morvern Callar.

 

Allon Reich

DNA Films

DNA Films is the movie company that produced the hits 28 Days Later and Love, Actually (with Working Title Films). Run by Andrew Macdonald, who also produced The Beach and Trainspotting, the company has a production partnership with Fox Searchlight Pictures, which owns 50% of DNA Films. The company is also backed by the UK Film Council, which distributes government grants and funding from the National Lottery Commission. Fox Searchlight, which specializes in director-driven projects, handles global distribution for DNA Films.

Daisy Allsop

Feel Films

Daisy is Head of Development for Feel Films where she manages a slate of literary adaptations from development through to production. Most recently she was Associate Producer on Feel's production of David Almond's book ‘Skellig', starring Tim Roth, Kelly Macdonald, John Simm and Bill Milner. Daisy graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Philosophy and experience as a freelance script reader. She worked at UK distributor Downtown Pictures for a year before joining sales agent Capitol Films where she spent three years in development and acquisitions before moving to Feel Films.

 

Keith Potter

Head of Talent

With more than eight years experience in the film industry, Keith Potter joined the Film Agency for Wales in September 2007 as 'Head of Talent'. He has responsibility for identifying and nurturing Welsh filmmaking talent.  Keith was previously responsible for a slate of projects intended for cinema release at Dan Films including 'Blonde', a horror movie written by Wales' own writer-director Caradog James. He also developed the latest Christopher Smith project 'Triangle' and Tom Rob Smith's 'Put Together', whose first novel has since been optioned by Ridley Scott to direct. He has also worked closely with novelist Jeff Noon on adapting his story 'Creeping Zero'.

 

Noelle Morris

Head of TV Development - Kudos

Noelle joined Kudos in 2007 as Head of TV Development. She worked as both Literary Assistant and Assistant Director at the Royal Court Theatre before moving into television, where her first job was as Assistant Script Editor on Kudos' first TV drama series: Psychos by David Wolstencroft (Channel 4). Prior to this, Noelle worked for several years as a Script Executive for the BBC independent drama commissioning team, working on a broad range of projects in development and production, including Cambridge Spies by Peter Moffat (Perpetual Motion / BBC), Clocking Off (Red), Linda Green (Red), Murder (Tiger Aspect), Tipping the Velvet (Sally Head), Attachments (World) and Cops (World).

Kevin Loader

Producer Kevin Loader spent fourteen years at the BBC, producing and directing arts documentaries and television drama. His BBC productions included "Clarissa", and the award-winning "The Buddha of Suburbia" (directed by Roger Michell). Loader also executive produced a number of award-winning programmes including Bryan Elsley's adaptation of "The Crow Road", Tony Marchant's epic serial, "Holding On" and Peter Flannery's "Our Friends in the North". His his first feature film was "Captain Corelli's Mandolin", which he brought to Working Title Films, in 2001. He has a company, Free Range Films, with Roger Michell, which has produced the films "The Mother", "Enduring Love" and "Venus". Loader's other film credits include Mike Barker's "To Kill a King" and Paul Morrison's "Wondrous Oblivion". His other forthcoming films include "The History Boys" and Dan Reed's "Straightheads" and Armando Iannucci's "In the Loop".

 

Luke Franklin

Luke joined Mammoth as Head of Development in July 2007.  He script edited 'Lost in Austen', prior to which he was a script editor at ITV Productions, working on productions including Lewis, Walk Away and I stumble, and The History of Mr Polly.  After reading English at Cambridge Luke spent two years as a researcher for BBC documentaries and factual, whilst also working as a freelance script reader for the BBC, the Soho and Gate Theatres.

Ruth McCance

Head of Development - Potboiler Productions

Ruth was trained at the BBC and has worked as a script editor and development producer for fifteen years. Before joining Potboiler she was Head of Television at Ruby Films. Previously she worked for financiers including the lottery franchise, Pathé Pictures and Film4.  As development executive or script editor, her film credits include Lynne Ramsay's Ratcatcher, Garth Jenning's Son of Rambow, Thomas Vinterberg's It's All About Love, Simon Beaufoy and Billie Eltringham's The Darkest Light and Soren Kragh Jakobsen's Skagerrak.Originally from Northern Ireland, she has lived and worked in Denmark and Sweden and has an ongoing involvement with the European screenwriting programme SOURCES, which is based in Berlin.Ruth joined Potboiler Productions as Head of Development in 2008.

Sam Taylor is director and joint-owner of Film and Music Entertainment who merged her company Mass Productions Ltd into F&ME in January 2000. Her most recent credits are Deathwatch, Hilmar Oddson's Cold Light, Fridrik Thor Fridkriksson's films Niceland and Falcons, Anders Ronnow Klarlund's puppet epic Strings, Loving Glances, which was selected for competition in Venice 2003, and Peter Timm's My Brother is a Dog.

Huw Kennair Jones

Commissioning Editor, Drama

Sky1 announced it's commitment to making great home-grown drama in 2008 and, as Commissioning Editor for Drama, Huw is working at the forefront of this initiative.

He has already worked on one of Sky1's most successful adaptations - Terry Pratchett's The Colour Of Magic - which enjoyed huge ratings success when it aired at Easter 2008. Huw will play a key role in the development of Sky1 returning dramas, focusing on crime series as well as being an Executive Producer on Terry Pratchett's Going Postal - the next Sky1 Discworld adaptation.

Huw started his career as a Script Editor before becoming a Producer on programmes including Dream Team, Holby City and EastEnders. He joined Sky in 2007.

 

Arvind David

CEO and Producer

Arvind Ethan David is the CEO and a Producer at Slingshot, the next generation film company which he co-founded in 2005. Arvind leads both business and creative strategy for the company, and has served as a producer on all of the company's films to date - SUGARHOUSE, FAINTHEART, FRENCH FILM, TORMENTED and currently, THE INFIDEL.

Prior to Slingshot, Arvind served as Commercial Advisor to Headline Pictures, the production company set up by Stewart Mackinnon, Kevin Hood and the late Mark Shivas. Between 2003 to 2004, Arvind was Interim Managing Director of Ruby Films, working for Oscar-nominated producer Alison Owen. In 1999, he founded hahabonk, one of the UK's early internet entertainment companies, which produced more than 100 short animated films and interactive games for cable television and broadband internet, as well as helped launch the careers of such comedians as Jimmy Carr, Mackenzie Crook and The Hollow Men.

 

Ollie Madden

Ollie Madden started his career at Graham Broadbent and Damian Jones' company, Dragon Pictures. He later became an Acquisitions Executive at Atom Films, the world's largest short film distribution company. In 2001 Madden moved on to be a Director of Production and Development at Miramax Films, where he worked for three years and was involved with such films as DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, BRIDE AND PREJUDICE and PROOF. In late 2004, Madden joined Intermedia Films as Head of UK Production and Development, where he worked on THE HUNTING PARTY, BASIC INSTINCT 2, and produced comedy MAGICIANS for Intermedia and Universal. In 2007 Madden joined Warner Bros. as their UK based VP of Production and is currently developing a slate of films for the studio. 

Robin Gutch

Joint Managing Director

Robin is Joint Managing Director of Warp X, a start-up digital ‘studio' that makes low budget feature films with funding from UK Film Council, FilmFour, EM Media and Screen Yorkshire. Between 2003 and 2005 he was Head of Film and Drama for Blast Films. Previously Robin was the founding Head of the FilmFour Lab which was established as FilmFour's main focus for new talent in film in 1999. Before joining FilmFour, Robin was Commissioning Editor for Independent Film and Video at Channel 4. He had joined Channel 4 in 1994 as a Deputy Commissioning Editor, having worked at the BBC as a Producer and Director for the previous ten years.
